Paying attention to finances will save a young professional a lot of long term pain, and it is good to make a habit of this sooner rather than later.  Mojico suggests professionals try to have a weekly check in with finances, ensuring that all obligations can be met, any debts can be paid, some can be put away for a rainy day and a little is left over for some fun too. There are a lot of budgeting blogs out there for anyone who is struggling with keeping on top of things financially.

  1. Stay creative and keep learning

“The world is your classroom” states Mojico, and staying creatively stimulated and always learning makes understanding the perspectives and challenge of others easier. Not all day jobs provide the opportunity to create or make anything, and in this instance, professionals should consider taking a practical course in something of interest. This will prove to be both relaxing and educational.

When people are in their twenties, it might be seen as the time they can do whatever they please, but their underlying health and recovery times will be vastly improved if they balance out the more intense elements of their lifestyle with good food, sleep and exercise.

Integrity and empathy are the two most important skills to hone in during a person’s 20s, but unfortunately it is only really possible to learn them the hard way.
